Travel Quotes Thursday
My blog from yesterday had the most posts and views in one day of any blog I’ve ever written.
As part of my travel quotes Thursday post, I thought that I would share some of the e-mails, messages and texts that I have gotten in the past 24 hours:
“Your last blog post was brilliant, love. I believe in you.” Daejon, South Korea.
“I read your last blog post. You’re my hero.” Brooklyn, New York.
“Hey gurllll just saw your blog post and it honestly broke my heart. But I know deep down that this is just another adventure (word used very loosely) life is throwing at you, and you can handle it because that’s who you are. Chin up Petri xx” Sydney, Australia
“You’ll be all right then. New Zealand is waiting.” London, UK
“Just shared your blog on my travel page. I’m sending you the biggest hug in the whole world. I know for sure one day you wil be thankful bc this will have led you to _____ …( that unknown blank is so exciting!) anyway, have faith my girl and stay strong….Once you are in New Zealand, after a week of being back on the road, I am CONFIDENT you will feel lighter. Big hugs and allow yourself to feel excitement for things to come!!” somewhere on the West Coast of USA
“I am proud of you girl. Picking up the phone and goign through that conversation. Enjoy the nexrt 28 days and I know you are going to have an amazing time in NZ for your 27th birthday. Too bad I am working otherwise I would have met you! Go WILD mate.” Brooklyn, New York
My favourite quote, though, of anything anyone has said to me came from home. I was in a group chat with two friends, and I was debating about how much information to share about my leaving Australia and how to go about it in general, how I was feeling about it all, what I was going to do next, that I was scared to leave Sydney behind for good to truly (and eventually) move home to Brooklyn.
I woke up to a long message that went something like this.
“I’m sorry, Al. I know this is so hard…I know you can’t stand the thought of coming home, but this is fuggginnn NYC. So So much is here for you. Opportunities. Everything….People moving to Sydney don’t have what you do or come from where you come from. They’re upgrading. You’re downgrading.”
I like those moments where things make sense. I can’t wait for the to click into place and stay there.
I guess there are worse places than New York to go home to.
